Frequently asked questions

# Can data be exported from Innguma?

**Short answer**

In Innguma, the knowledge your team validates does not remain isolated: it is kept in the Library with its source, tags and comments, it is distributed in newsletters and, if your organisation enables it, ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot or Gemini can query it through MCP. Which data can be exported, in what format and under what conditions is defined with each organisation during set-up and in the contract.

## What data does a watch system generate, and which of it should be exportable?

Not everything a watch platform contains has the same value or the same owner. It is worth distinguishing five sets:

- **Validated signals and their metadata:** title, date, link to the source and classification.
- **The team’s annotations:** tags and comments. This is the hardest part to reconstruct, because it captures your organisation’s judgement.
- **Watch configuration:** which sources and which filters are used, and why others were discarded.
- **Newsletters sent:** the record of what was communicated, to whom and when.
- **User data:** accounts and recipients, which is personal data.

A nuance that is often forgotten: the full text of a press article belongs to its publisher. Being able to export it does not give the right to redistribute it; that is why the linked source matters as much as the text.

## What do the rules say about portability and changing provider?

| Rule | What it covers | What it means for the purchaser |
| --- | --- | --- |
| GDPR, Article 20 | The right of individuals to receive their personal data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format[\[1\]](https://www.innguma.com/en/resources/faq/data-export/#ref-1) | Covers personal data, not the company’s watch knowledge |
| GDPR, Article 28.3(g) | At the end of the service, the processor deletes or returns the personal data, at the controller’s choice[\[1\]](https://www.innguma.com/en/resources/faq/data-export/#ref-1) | The AEPD proposes three clause options: return the data to the controller, hand it over to another processor designated by the controller, or destroy it and certify this in writing[\[2\]](https://www.innguma.com/en/resources/faq/data-export/#ref-2) |
| Data Act, Regulation (EU) 2023/2854, Chapter VI | Switching between data processing services, including software as a service[\[3\]](https://www.innguma.com/en/resources/faq/data-export/#ref-3) | Applicable from 12 September 2025. SaaS providers must offer open interfaces and export data in a commonly used machine-readable format; switching charges, including data extraction charges, disappear from 12 January 2027[\[4\]](https://www.innguma.com/en/resources/faq/data-export/#ref-4) |

Two clarifications about the Data Act. Exportable data comprises input and output data, including metadata, generated through the use of the service, and excludes assets of the provider or of third parties protected by intellectual property or trade secrets (recital 82)[\[3\]](https://www.innguma.com/en/resources/faq/data-export/#ref-3). And the Commission has proposed specific amendments to the Regulation within the digital omnibus package, so check its status before negotiating a contract[\[4\]](https://www.innguma.com/en/resources/faq/data-export/#ref-4).

## How is Innguma’s knowledge reused today?

- **Library.** Keeps what the team validates, with tags, comments and source, and is consulted as a history.
- **Newsletters.** Sent from the Library to the people who need them, with summaries generated by AI.
- **Linked source.** Each signal links to the publication it comes from, so the original can always be located.
- **MCP.** Innguma offers connectivity through the Model Context Protocol, currently compatible with ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot and Gemini[\[5\]](https://www.innguma.com/en/resources/faq/data-export/#ref-5). With the capabilities your organisation enables, from the assistant you can consult the news in the inbox and search the published content. Your AI provides analytical capacity. Innguma provides context.

This page does not describe export formats: these are specified with each organisation.

## What should you ask any provider before contracting?

1. Which data sets can be exported: signals, annotations, configuration, newsletters, users?
2. In what format, and is it documented so that another system can read it?
3. Are the metadata kept: validation date, comment author, link to the source?
4. Who can request an export, and how often?
5. At the end of the contract, what period is there to recover the data, and how is its deletion certified?
6. Can a test export be made before it is needed?

The underlying reason is the history. AI answers; watching expands the context, and that accumulated context is what an organisation does not want to lose if it changes tool.
