Frequently asked questions

# What is the difference between using the platform and Innguma Service?

**Short answer**

The difference between the platform and Innguma Service lies in who operates the watch. With the platform, your team maintains sources and filters, reviews and validates signals, and distributes the newsletters. With Innguma Service, Innguma's analysts do that work on the same platform. In both cases your organisation sets the priorities, and what is validated stays in its Library.

## Who does what in each model?

| Task | Platform | Innguma Service |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Defining which decisions the watch must support | Your team, with Innguma’s support during set-up | Your team and Innguma’s analysts, together |
| Maintaining sources and filters | Your team | Innguma’s analysts |
| Reviewing and validating signals | Your team, in Factory | Innguma’s analysts, in Factory |
| Preparing and sending newsletters | Your team, from the Library | Innguma’s analysts, from the Library and with the agreed criteria |
| Providing business context and assessing whether it is useful | Your team | Your team |
| Keeping the history | Your organisation’s Library | Your organisation’s Library |

Factory is the space where Innguma processes and structures signals: capture, filtering, AI classification, review and validation. The Library keeps what has been validated, with its tags, comments and source.

## When does each model fit?

The platform fits when the organisation has, or wants to create, its own watch team and wants the craft to stay in-house. Innguma Service fits when there is no time or specialisation to review signals regularly, or when the aim is to start with method from the first day.

Outsourcing is an accepted practice under the standard: UNE 166006 is often used as a purchase specification when watching is contracted to specialist providers[\[1\]](https://www.innguma.com/en/resources/faq/platform-or-service/#ref-1), and AENOR highlights that certification allows an organisation to demonstrate to third parties that it has the necessary technical and human resources[\[2\]](https://www.innguma.com/en/resources/faq/platform-or-service/#ref-2). In other words, contracting the service does not mean giving up the rigour of the system.

## Five questions to decide

1. **Capacity.** Who will have time reserved each week to review signals, and what happens when that person is on holiday or changes post?
2. **Knowledge.** Does assessing a signal require knowing internal plans that should not be shared outside?
3. **Craft.** Do we want the watch method, including filters and sources, to stay within the organisation?
4. **Pace.** Do we need useful results soon, without first going through the learning curve?
5. **Scope.** Are all watches alike, or do some require an in-house team and others not?

If the answer to the last question is ‘they are not alike’, the two models can be combined.

## What role does AI play in each model?

The same role in both. Innguma’s AI filters, groups duplicates and classifies each signal by category, technology, entity, type of event, place and tone, and generates the newsletter summaries. What changes is who reviews its work: your team or Innguma’s analysts. And in both models, if your organisation enables it, your team can query the validated knowledge from ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot or Gemini through MCP. AI processes. Your team decides. Knowledge accumulates.

## What does not change between one model and the other?

- **The method.** Innguma’s technology watch and intelligence system is certified under UNE 166006:2018[\[3\]](https://www.innguma.com/en/resources/faq/platform-or-service/#ref-3) by OCA Global (certificate 34/5705/25/01139, valid until January 2028)[\[4\]](https://www.innguma.com/en/resources/faq/platform-or-service/#ref-4).
- **The security of the service.** The systems that support the managed watch services are certified under the ENS at MEDIUM level (certificate 34/5704/24/05039, valid until June 2028)[\[5\]](https://www.innguma.com/en/resources/faq/platform-or-service/#ref-5).
- **Human judgement.** The AI processes; people decide what is watched, what is published and who receives it.
- **Traceability.** Each signal links to the publication it comes from.
- **Ownership of the history.** What is validated accumulates in your organisation’s Library, whoever operates the watch.
